A workshop in 1935 !!

In 1935 the Lesiure League of America published Harry J Hobbs  booklet “Working With Tools.” This is a 90 page guide to building things with hand tools. Thanks to a fellow lumberjock OttoH the following pics are a copy of the pages listing tools required to set up a small workshop..

To buy all of the hand tools on the list of tools he suggests for a small shop and additional tools it would have cost you $33.75. Since the average yearly wage at that time was $1,600 a year, to set up a complete shop of hand tools it would cost 2.11% of the average yearly wage.

    Hey Larry,
Nice list. I have to say I have a few more tools than that, but not all of those listed.
I like going back to these basic lists to re-think the basics of how I work.
