Chess anyone?

Yes, yet another order for Christmas.. this chess set with two drawers for storage was picked up yesterday..

The set is standard 45 mm squares… made from Camphor Laurel for the light squares and New South Wales Rosewood for the dark..

The border was made so that the dark side was surrounded by a dark part and the light by light… just a little bit of fancy…

Base sides and drawer fronts were from Camphor with again a light and dark drawer..

Drawer sides were New Guinea Rosewood and the back is Silky Oak.. I used Isoloc joints for the drawers instead of dovetails …as seen in this pic…. just another touch….

Dividers were made for the drawers using half lap joinery…. and the bottom of the drawer is red felt wrapped around a thin board of MDF.

The base is covered with felt as well to avoid scratching the table…Hope you enjoyed the tour around the board..
