Spider web… Lazy Larry style..


I made one of these a while ago, and was asked to make another…

To start, two lengths of New Guinea Rosewood were selected and edge glued together with a stripe of Purple Heart…

Once the glue was dry it was over to the thicknesser and then the drum sander…Setting the SCMS to 30 degrees the blank was cut and then rotated front to back and cut again…

By using only each second triangle, the resulting shape has grain flowing around the centre..Each triangle is also separated by a sliver of Purple Heart…

The client does not want the purple colour… so as soon as the  board is glued up and sanded the finish will be applied… without waiting for the purple color to appear after exposure to sun light..

A little mineral spirit shows the grain and colour…

Having used every second piece that left every other piece to make one more Lazy Larry…

No waste…
