One week later…

Here it is one week after I tried my first engraving of a photograph…IMG_3185Researched how to… watched a lot of youtube vids and read a lot of blogs…

Had a fair success with wood and ply but had my best results on white masonite… masonite with a melamine coating… the laser dots stay the same size on this material… rather than expanding the way they do on wood… this gives a crisper result…

Checkout the following pics…

IMG_3186 IMG_3187 IMG_3188 IMG_3190 IMG_3193IMG_3192Still fine tuning the various procedures for manipulating the file to get it where it will laser engrave nicely….

Let me know if any of you would like a photo engraved…

Have you tried a photo on any other substrates? Glass or ceramic tiles might look pretty neat. Or some kind of stone maybe?

  2. Lew says:

    Amazing, Larry!
Love the puppies- our dog is a Basset.

  3. Bec says:

Lasers work well on darker marble, and you can get purpose made laserable (is that a word?) Ceramic tiles. Be great for pet memorials……

Do you have a supplier in mind… I did some works on black marble very early in the piece but have not tried any lately… that is certainly on my list… but first the CRUISE… back at the end of the month…

      • Bec says:

Will check on the tile supply with my mate that used to own Stewarts Trophies here in Brisbane and get back to you. He used to do a roaring trade in pet memorial tiles lasered with photos of the deceased pet. Enjoy the cruise!

Cheers, catch you when we get back
